First time I've posted on here so its a learning experience.. the file was a bit to large so I had to crop it.
Let me know if it does it again, over here it looked fine.

Not alot of Rocks in the Petersburg area, but I do come across some clay that has my detector going nuts at times. Where I go it's extremely wet all year except summer time, so alot of the stuff gets eaten up pretty bad. (especially buttons) In fact I found 17 bullets in 4 hours this last weekend with the Explorer.
The Explorer II is an awesome machine, I own a whites xl pro, a Tejon, and the minelab out proforms them everytime. Except in the trenches, I stick to the xl pro with a big coil for those.

I had a chance to do a rally in North Cornwall England when my ship pulled in last month, I swear 60% of all the detectors in the fields were Explorer II's. That was quite an experience, the Brit's were truly gracious hosts. They picked me up at my ship, put me up in a tent with a sleeping bag, fed me and gave me plenty to drink and then drove me back to the ship the next evening. I made some great friends and am saving my money to go back to another rally. It's wierd cause they hunt farmers fields, you'd think that nothing could be there but with 2000 years + of history and that the farmers paid their hands in the fields there was quite a bit to find. If you all get a chance to go over and hunt in England jump on it cause you'll never forget it. They even presented me with a "Hammy" a hammered King Edward II silver penny.

or coming down to Virginia to relic hunt sometime.
Once I retire from the Navy, I'll probably end up back in WNY (Between Buffalo and Rochester) its going to be tough leaving the Civil War area's, its almost like you have a bond with the men that camped and fought on the land you're digging. Whenever I pull a carved bullet, I try to reflect on the life of that soldier. It's amazing the hardships they all went through, the crappy food or the lack of, not bathing for weeks at a time, the health issues, worrying about the family back home, and not knowing when you're going to get paid. We don't really appreciate what we have in this day and age. (sorry got on a tangent).
Anyway Greg, you do a wonderful job of running this site, I follow a few other forums but you really care and enjoy what you're doing.. BZ my friend.

Hi Skip,
And thanks for the kind words:smile:
I want to get as many people interested in this hobby as I can.
My family and I just returned from our yearly trip to Fredericksburg. I plan to move just south of there when I retire (near new guiny :Jackson's shrine)
And finish out my days as a relic hunter.
I lived near Fredericksburg in 88 and always had a love for that history rich area.
Lets get together sometime when time permits.
