I dug all these in LaCrosse Wi. There are a variety of Buttons, two buckles . I know i got an Eagle I button here, different eagle buttons, several officer general service buttons. One Illinois state seal button. Have to search further to find a photo of the Wisconsin state seal button i had found. One buckle is the thin brass sash plate. These were found at house demo sites over the last 3 years.

Nice finds you have there. I didn't realize that they would be found up in your area. I guess I learned something new today. Thanks for posting them

I had first read of one found in Iowa in one of the detecting magazines. The article stated they can and have been found in Northern states. There were lots of troups from this state. The iron brigade had 3 regiments from Wis. 2nd 6th and 7th. I guess they lost them training or after their return. I do not find many, but once in a while one turns up. If mermory serves me these came out of 4 different yards.

Very very nice finds. The belt plate and the sash belt "wreath" are especially great finds. I have been digging CW relics for years and still have not found those! I am guessing that the button with the 2 on it is a regimental button. The coat button in the second pic...whats on it? Hard to make out as the light has blurred it a bit. Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one!

Your finds are great!!!! Odd tho, here I live in the South (Fl/Ga stateline) and can't find any CW items. Oh, well, I still get to enjoy find pictures of my MD'g friends.

Hey Pete, Very Nice Finds and a bit unusual but as you stated were brought back from the conflict! Wisconsin troops were in my area! They fought at the Battle of Shiloh, TN on to Corinth, MS and places beyond. I've been lucky enough to find two Wisconsin Officer Coat Buttons (one is shown second on the left top row of my button post). I sold the other one and purchased something I didn't have to add to my collection.
Continued Happy Hunting,
Hoping Everyone Had A Great Thanksgiving, Roger
