Early Union plans had called for the division of the Confederacy by seizing control of the Mississippi River. One of the first steps in such operations was to enter the mouth of the Mississippi River, ascend to New Orleans and capture the city, closing off the entrance to Rebel ships.

i didn't know how much information you have provided me about this state. i got out of the military and decided to stay around this area. now since you have provided us with this new area to look for i will be checking out some of these hot spots. you spent alot of time and i am greatful for your work!!!!! thank you very much!!!!

i live in north louisiana, claiborne parish. i would like to get started around here but have no idea where to start. i would love to hit the beach at the state park but i don't think they allow it. i haven't seen anything saying they don't but who knows.
