Hello All,
I returned to the same place that I hunted last week but moved on over to another Old Home Place. After finding out from the landowners brother just where the house stood, I took off. Wasn't swinging over two minutes when I dug the .36 cal. pistol bullet. I finally crossed the fence and headed to the old house place. I had to readjust because of the high powered electric fence and started my grid. I don't remember if I dug anything good (except for the pistol bullet) before flipping out the Baby US Box Plate (DE1) at 1" or less and Thanking the LORD once again (showing the field picture taken shortly after exposing her to day light once again). I continued my grid and was digging good signals left and right (I seem to think no one has ever hunted this spot or they left many things for Roger the junk man "Love to hunt those junky places"). I started around 10 AM and forced myself to leave right at 5 PM because of darkness setting in! I bet I dug over 100 holes and Loved every second of it. Of course I dug some junk non-ferrous signals & large ferrous, old home place brass and lead, at least 15 Zinc lids and a few shotgun brass. I was unaware of the smaller portion of the Baby US Buckle (DE2) until after washing everything as I orginally thought it to be a large chunk of lead (goes to show that you need to keep everything unknown).
I hit the .69 three groove Minie and scrapped the .58 three groove Minie and several others have disc damage as this is in a pasture. The Tower is only my second and has several disc marks with a 5-3 plug base. The scans show the best finds of the day and I found 5 parts of Harmonica reeds, several other pieces of flattened lead, a damaged Sash buckle (may be from the old home place), a 1945 wheat, a RED DIAMOND work clothes button and an iron roller harness buckle.
The Wisconsin State Seal Officers button has been in a fire and is back marked ".*.GODDARD & BRO.*./EXTRA". The small wedding band is gold plated inside, the mother of pearl button was found while digging a signal and the suspender buckle was mangled up (I straightened it to the present state).
I may attempt to restore the larger Baby US Box Plate?
I'll be going back to this place soon!!
Thanks For Looking,
I Had A Great Day!!!!!
Good Luck and Happy Hunting, Roger
