Hello All,
I returned to the same place that I hunted last week but moved on over to another Old Home Place. After finding out from the landowners brother just where the house stood, I took off. Wasn't swinging over two minutes when I dug the .36 cal. pistol bullet. I finally crossed the fence and headed to the old house place. I had to readjust because of the high powered electric fence and started my grid. I don't remember if I dug anything good (except for the pistol bullet) before flipping out the Baby US Box Plate (DE1) at 1" or less and Thanking the LORD once again (showing the field picture taken shortly after exposing her to day light once again). I continued my grid and was digging good signals left and right (I seem to think no one has ever hunted this spot or they left many things for Roger the junk man "Love to hunt those junky places"). I started around 10 AM and forced myself to leave right at 5 PM because of darkness setting in! I bet I dug over 100 holes and Loved every second of it. Of course I dug some junk non-ferrous signals & large ferrous, old home place brass and lead, at least 15 Zinc lids and a few shotgun brass. I was unaware of the smaller portion of the Baby US Buckle (DE2) until after washing everything as I orginally thought it to be a large chunk of lead (goes to show that you need to keep everything unknown).
I hit the .69 three groove Minie and scrapped the .58 three groove Minie and several others have disc damage as this is in a pasture. The Tower is only my second and has several disc marks with a 5-3 plug base. The scans show the best finds of the day and I found 5 parts of Harmonica reeds, several other pieces of flattened lead, a damaged Sash buckle (may be from the old home place), a 1945 wheat, a RED DIAMOND work clothes button and an iron roller harness buckle.
The Wisconsin State Seal Officers button has been in a fire and is back marked ".*.GODDARD & BRO.*./EXTRA". The small wedding band is gold plated inside, the mother of pearl button was found while digging a signal and the suspender buckle was mangled up (I straightened it to the present state).
I may attempt to restore the larger Baby US Box Plate?
I'll be going back to this place soon!!

Thanks For Looking,
I Had A Great Day!!!!!
Good Luck and Happy Hunting, Roger

And My Apologies for making a previously mentioned mistake. I assume it's because I hadn't found a US plate in a long time and I thought they were the Baby US plates. Last evening I pulled out a previously found Box Plate to check some things and come to find out the plates (or what's left of them) that I have shown above are the larger size as well.

Sorry For Any Confusion and I just wanted to correct myself and let it be known to others! No other progress on the restoration yet, been working on the Enfield Lock Plate. HH, Roger

Great finds Roger! I'm working on getting permission on a couple new places to dig and hope they'll be as productive as yours. Keep up the good work.:bthumb:

Thanks for all the replies! This being an old post, raw has come back down to earth! It was fun while it lasted! I've been turning off the electric fences and scrapping bottom the last few outings! It's strange that I can't find one CW item away from the junky areas or it's my proven fact over my almost 10 years of digging that the old machines or the operators didn't like those junky places!? Call me the JUNK MAN as I'll hunt it all day long after finding just one CW item!
Hello Tsgman, I've seen the posts of your great finds on the other Forum! I'm unsure of the actual companies that camped this site! I'm positive that it was an over camp (found a .58 Gardner, .58 Bulb Nose, .45 Kerr, .69 Tower & the strap end off a CS Spur) along with the damaged Wisconsin Officer Button, US "I" buttons, damaged US Box Plate & damaged US Belt Plate. Also found the Enfield Lock Plate (used by both sides), etc.
Hey Mark, Continued Good Luck to you, AJ, Travis, Bill (on his return) and others hunting there! Hoping you gain Permission on the new Sites!!!!!

Happy Hunting To All, Roger
