12-17-05 Finds

[NB Digger]

A balmy 53 degrees here today so I got out for a day long dig! Man was my detector right on today!:bthumb: Heres what I found. The Eagle I is the best I have dug so far. Notice the Eagle Staff has 90% gold gilt still on it, too bad the back is missing! J hooks and brass buckle and some bullets! More posting below! Thanks for looking!

Heres two more pics. The period glass has melted lead stuck to it!!! Notice the large belt/ knap sack rivet, it still has leather on it! I also had another pound of melted lead that are not picured (I think)! Great Day Hunting!!!banner

By this weekend do mean now are next weekend? I was at the usual place today. Hit the lower end of the first field. I know that I have been down there half a dozen times but for some reason today was the day! Doubt that I will get out tomorrow and next weekend is Christmas weekend so it will be the weekend of the 1st before I get out. But....one never knows! Hope to hook up again with you!

Hey Travis,
Very Nice Digs today! I also had some more finds from the same old home place (it's too late to post tonight but will tomorrow). I've always heard that the Moon has something to do with the Halo and I tend to believe it! It was a Full Moon Thursday evening and I found many non-ferrous items that I had missed on at least 4 previous trips!

Oh yea, Travis I forgot to tell ya before I left, Now that im gone you are going to have to ask A.J. before he goes out hunting where he plans on detecting. Then before he gets there go out there and seed the area for him so he can find something as well. I've been doing it for 3 months now and its working so far and he doesnt have a clue....Shhhhh dont tell him lol.

Glad to see ya made it home Bill. I'll miss hunting with you, but will try to leave some finds in the ground for when you come back to dig with us. I have some old beat up finds that I can "plant" for A.J. and that way he won't be left out. LOL!!!!! Have a great time with your family over the holiday as I know that you missed them.
