Well like a good metal detectorist with snow on the ground I did the next best thing, Went looking for information via people around town. As I was at a local pet store looking into my other hobby of salt water fish tanks, I went fishing for info from the local viliagers. As it turns out I hit pay dirt. The kid who I was talking to said he had found Civil War buttons while out looking for arrow heads. Im going back next week to get a map to the location. He said he and his father had found bullets and buttons on top of the ground after the farmer had plowed his field. It sounds promising, and with any kind of luck this spring time I may still be able to find more bullets than A.J. lol. I hope ya'll have a very marry Christmas and a safe New Year....HH.....Bill

Well, I am pretty sure that I told ya' so Bill. LOL!!! Glad to hear that you might have a good spot come spring! If that snow melts any I would be out there sooner than spring but I am not good about delayed gratification! Can't wait to see some of those finds. I wish that this weekend was not Christmas weekend. It is supposed to be 64 here Saturday but I doubt I'll get out any!!

Last month at the Marine Corps Legue meeting (wich I wasnt home yet to go to) the guest speaker was a man telling the history of my hometown of Findlay Ohio and its role in the CW. At this months meeting they mentioned it and I asked for and got his name to get some research. Come to find out the members said he said there were not one but four forts here in my hometown. Oh the joy!!!! Now its time to find out there locations (know where 2 were in general and 1 for a fact). I may be able to post my finds on this part of the forum once again......HH.....Bill

You Go Bill! Many Ohio Troops were sent down here into Tennessee! Their Breast Plates bring high dollars (Ohio State Seal) and would be a keeper if ever I found one! I've heard of a few found and the places they were found here! Also heard of a few Ohio Officer State Seal Buttons found close to the "Battle of Davis' Bridge", Pocahontas, TN but I've never seen a dug example from around these parts.
Happy Swishing, Good Luck & Keep Us Posted!!!!!
Hoping You The Best Of Luck, Roger
