Beautiful digs Tsg. That little picket spot might still produce a buckle or two. Have you discovered any signs of camp fire/ pit? And don't forget that a picket post could be as far as a few miles from the main camp!! Look forward to sseing more!

Hi Travis, We are kinda scratching our heads on this one. We originally found a nice south facing field with a gentle slope, near a spring. The items I posted last week came from that field, but as we have widend our seach we keep finding drops, buttons, and fired rounds. The tent gromments came from a small area in that first field. Yesterday I went as far away as a mile following a old tree line near the old road and dug several 69's. We still have quite a area to search and we have yet to check the other side of the road due to the land owner was not home. I have been concentrating on areas that command a good view of the roads and keep finding drops. I have a feeling that this area was used over and over as troops traveled and camped nearby. This might explain why the finds are spread out and not in a concentrated area like the last camp we found. I did find a odd bullet yesterday, I think it is a enfield? Would you ID it for me? it is next to a 69 caliber in the pic attached Thanks and any advise is welcome. Tim

Hey Tim,
The bullet in question appears to be a MM53 (.54 Starr Carbine). Flat Base, One Raised Ring, .558 dia. x .890 length and weight of 439. I could be wrong on this as no measurements were given.....maybe a smaller version but it's a Starr!
If you ever need company while digging or to help carry out your findings, just let me know! I'm only 90 miles East Of Memphis, TN!

Congrats On All Your Finds Thus Far!!!!!
Continued Great Luck With Your Quest!
Happy Hunting, Roger

I would concur with Roger on that bullet being a Starr carbine! Despite the sread out nature of your newset finds, I am quite envious!! I may be in eastern N.C., but I can drive really fast!!!!! LOL! Keep the good stuff comming Tim, and I look forward to the next set of pics.
