Hello My Friends,
Seems as if everyone usually posts the common finds (bullets, buttons, br**** etc.) so I thought I'd provide a change. These and several other pieces not pictured were found in Civil War Camps. Most are broken or damaged, some have been glued/repaired & some still have wood on the handle. These were found over the years and not a common find for me anymore!

Those Men Had To Eat!
Thanks For Looking, Roger

Very nice Roger. I have never pulled out a period fork. I have found a couple of spoons though. Hope you get out to dig some more this coming weekend!

I've never dug a fork either, but have dug a nice handle of a utensil and one full spoon.

Those are really nice finds. They are the first ones like that I have seem. I am courious were they like that when you unearthed them? If not how did you clean them? They really look nice.

Thanks for all the replies! Boobie, best I remember (these were found several year ago) I just used the wire brush on my bench grinder to remove the rust (they are thin and small), washed them, cleaned with a hand wire brush (used a knife to get to the small areas), dried (using the eye of the stove or oven) and coated with the rust converter. Some show the high gloss from the epoxy used trying to re-connect the broken pieces that I or the elements have broken off!
It's been a long time since I've dug a Camp where the modern litter hasn't over come the Relics! So much stuff in the ground around here but unable to dig every signal! Seems as if people knew where the Camps were and that's where they threw their junk!

Hoping Everyone The Best Of Swishing This Year!
Happy Hunting, Roger
