Hello My Friends,
I started out yesterday morning (01-14-2006) knocking on doors! The first stop was a: "No, I'm going to search this myself some day! I don't have a detector but want to get one!" I remarked, "Let's go Big Guy! I'll provide you with a machine right now and we can go swishing"! He didn't take the bait and I was on my way once again!
Next stop: Introduced myself and used references and I was swishing inside the Pasture! Clean walking, low trash and been hunted for years I finally found a few items (shown on the top row of my scan). Upon leaving, I show him my finds, Thanked Him for letting me swish & have the right to return!
Leaving there, I returned to a dead end road looking to fill in the missing links to the joining property I've been hunting. After getting down in the lower end of this property, it took me a few minutes before I finally realized and put together the final piece of this puzzle! It's strange how a few hundred yards (coming in from different directions) can fool & turn you around!
Finding out where I was at, I went straight to the Old Home Place (in the bottom) that I had visited once before. I searched high, low, East, West and all around.....and found an old road bed that once crossed a joining creek). Walked this for a while and seemed endless!
I returned to the field where the Old Home once stood. The bone handled (what's left of them) knife (found in two pieces), the brass ring and a shotgun hull were found about 100 yards south of the old house site (had found a few small pieces of flint and was checking out the high places in this field). Returned to the old home place and several swishes later I found the remaining items.
I can't seem to figure out the actual route(s) taken by the Soldiers and the reasons? Maybe I'll figure it out and find that missing Camp?

Hoping Everyone Had Fun Swishing!
Thanks For Looking, HH, Roger

Good digs Roger. A lot better than I did today!!!! I got completly stumped but had a good time being out. Mark took me to an area of the Battle of Kinston. He did pretty well but I'll let him tell what he got!

Thanks for all the replies my Friends! I've already searched several Camps in this area but was hoping I might actually find a Camp that had been overlooked or at least still have a few prime relics for Roger!

I'll be asking and swinging soon, HH To All, Roger
