View Full Version : any idea's on this buckle?

2 nd one i found in the area but broke the tongue on this one. It is 1/32" tall by 1.3/4" wide. It is made of copper i believe. No markings that I can see. From a 1862 Union camp who's troop were involved in the battle where I found the other one.



It has been ID as a loop buckle used to tighten up the saddle by a strap under the horse's belly. thanks sindingman aka ray!!!

dates about right 1850 1900 on wards ,its from horse tac,poss from a large working horse in the fields

Coldfeet. Came from a former vinyard that was used as a camp.
