Carved button or not?

I dug this last Mon. It is lead and looks like a button, except the hole seems a little big to me, unless it had a second piece with it? Roger, Travis what do you guy's think? Tim

Hmmmm...Hard to tell Tim. I think probably not button though! It would be hard to sew a button with only one hole. Honestly I don't know what to make of it! Roger...it's up to you!

Hey Tim, I'm by no means an expert but my thoughts are that a one hole button would be useless. It would take at least two holes for the tread to attach it properly. Not trying to be rude, just my thoughts.......but as you stated it could be missing another part. I correct myself! If this hole once obtained a shank and the face was missing, then it might have been a button.
