Very Nice Finds Tavis! What is the back mark on the Navy button?
I'm jelaous again! Your hitting the buttons but looks like the elements have taken the toll on most of them......is it ferterlizer getting to them?
Keep at it my friend and show us that Confederate Button!

Happy Hunting, Roger

Hey Roger, I was hoping you could help me with that button! Check your email! I sent one about a half hour ago! I suppose it's Union but unsure! Back mark is almost non existant!

Nice pile of relics there Travis! It looks like you had a very good evening. We'll try to get down that way next weekend.

Sorry about missing your call Mark! We can get into the spot this weekend! I was having to beat the bushes back to get most of these finds! The bulldozer has not done anymore work and the area it was on is a muddy mess! I have poison ivy and thorn scratches all over my hands now!!!! It was worth it though.

Thanks Greg. I have been able to learn, with a bit of help and on line searching, that the button is Union Navy and was probably of Scovill Manufacturing, 1850. The tell tale sign for this button is the absence of three small cannon balls under the anchor. Most other Navy buttons have the cannon balls on them! The other sign of it being CW period is that the back is "depressed".

Travis,

Great finds again. Me and Jon are gonna have to get together with you again and let you put us on some relics like that. We have had a hard time finding time to get out lately. Gotta start swinging again soon to fight off the withdrawals. Keep digging.

The closest water is at least 12 miles away. That button has to have some good stories behind it.....Great finds Travis.....HH.....Bill
