my first post on this site. new to MD and am real intrested in CW relics.i live about 20 minutes from the perryville battlefield. have permission to hunt some land on peters hill.so far have not had a chance to hunt it, but have been told its hit pretty hard. heres my question; of all the reading i have done its hard to trace the troop movements to and from the battle, also campsite nearby. i live outside of burgin, and feel like they may have moved through this area, but cannot find documented proof. i know the armies used lexington rd to cross ky river, and i know they (confederates)camped somewhere around bryantsville on the bluffs across dix river after the battle. is there any reading that gives more detailed info, or road maps showing troop movements and campsites? thanks in advance for any efforts. randy

RANDY, The best place to start research is your local library and courthouse. You will be very suprised at what you can find in the Courthouse Records...If you look through old land grants, deeds and such you just might possibly come across some old maps. Troops made movements all over that area for sure and you can BET that somewhere there is documentation....PAPPY :D :D :D
P.S. Try to research a bit and IF you don't find anything, let me know and I will see what I can find...PAPPY :D :D :D

they say they still find stuff every now and then. Try the official records on ehistory and get a cd-rom of the official records atlas. try terra server or something like it and print the maps of the area. they have helped me alot.good luck.
