My First Civil War Bullet!

While on vacation up north, I found a CW bullet.

Guess who got stuck in a ditch...not me. :grin: Anywho, this bullet was sitting on the edge of the ditch looking like the rest of the rocks, but intuition told me to get out the handwand...kinda forgot about the angle of the car and had to repack 1/2 the trunk...and my little rock buzzed!:multi: It must have been hit by the ditch digger because no one knew what it was until I told them. My first real relic!!!!! Had it looked like a bullet, I'd given it to the local historical society. Someone said that this bullet probably would have been trashed.

How do I make this my profile photo? The digi camera won't take a sharp photo, so I'll take a macro shot of it, then jpeg it.

I also have a bottle story to tell.

Talked to my husband's brother-in-law and he said the bullet was a Confederate mollie ball. Not knowing what that was, I asked. The Rebs kept bullet molds with them to replenish their supply at the end of the day. That explains the other shiney metal flecks I found in it.

It also appears to have some small animal teeth marks on it.

Congrats on your first bullet! I've talked to alot of guys up in Northren VA and they say that animals are known for chewing on the bullets. I'm not sure why though.
