A early morning hunt was a blast. We went back to the fields that were recently mowed. Hope everyone had some luck. Tsgman

Hey Tim, Nice finds as usual & sorry for the delayed reply! I wish I had some of your hunting places around here that would produce as much!!
I also meant to reply to your previous post about the Starr looking bullet and the shot 2 groove bullet. If you could show close-ups of those two I'll do my best to assist. Not for sure but the picture slightly shows carved marks on the Starr?

Continued Good Luck Digging,
Don't Over Do It In This HEAT!!!!
Happy Hunting, Roger

Happy Hunting, Roger Thanks Roger, we have been only hunting untill noon or so. I will post a close up of the bullets in question. Do you know if the two brass pieces that are broken into are from a eppulate?

Hey Tim, The two pieces of brass are just two pieces of brass.....they look nothing like parts of Epaulets, Sorry and I haven't a clue as to what they are from. I saved your scan of the so called Starr and I couldn't get it any clearer. If you have an open top scanner, this will show all the details so everyone can see it up close. Without a better detailed scan, I'm thinking this to be a carved Sharps.....your picture seems to show carve marks and slightly uneven above the base raised ring. I'm "thinking" it to be a MM203, 204, 205, 206 or 207 with some field made adjustments to the outer appearance with a knife. I, of course, could be wrong but from what I see, this is my call for now.
I couldn't see enough detail to call the two groove bullet. Maybe scan it along side of a .58 cal. three groove minie for size difference.

Never-the-less, Great Finds and I Envy You My Friend!!!!!!!

I think Roger may be on to something! A Starr, as I now recall, has a solid base, or a shallow cone cavity. As Roger said, can you get a close up of the bullet?
