Hello, my first time in this forum, allways been interested in the civil war era, This is my only civil war era find , a infantry officer's coat button , found out here in iowa on an old homestead where a chaplin from the war retired. One of the few chaplins from iowa i'm told . big statue of him in the local graveyard:)

Wondered how i got this mess, greg has banned me from tq , thought i was here to, always enjoyed the post on here , and dont know just why i was banned from tq . but anyway , do any of you know this person jenefir, i get mess. from her about buddaism and such . sounds a little odd to me , anyway nice talkin to this forum again and good luck hunting .

By the way here's a better pic of the button and another find fronm the same yard and the house , all from james hill medal of honor winner from the civil war and a resident of out town , he built the house in 1856 and returned to live there after the war . the badge and the button and the house key all found in the yard

Thanks Dave, yes i agree, a nice button, and a back-mark that reads as it should. That button looks so nice from a dug example, you want to make sure it is period. And from the backmark, it is my opinion that it is. Again, a super button find. Happy hunting, gary
