hello all my friend don found this belt buckle around an 18o0s house.can anyone please identify the year, and posibly the value. go to www.putfile.com/leelocatch24 (http://www.putfile.com/leelocatch24) to view pics. under military buckle. i would greatly appreciate any info. good luck to all. leelo

Leelo this is what i found out U.S. State militia sword belt plate
Period is 1840's Rarity is a [5] can't tell you a price

Leelo rarity of the various plates range from 1-to-10 a U,S. plate or box plate
is a rarity of -1. A Arkansas oval belt plate is a rarity of -9.

Raymond has it right on. This sword belt plate was popular with militia troops and there are a number of similiar designs, as well as thickness of the brass or plated and unplated.
Very nice find and by the way...nice morrel mushrooms. Those are some good eating!!!!
