Nice stuff Travis! Show us the back side of the Rosette......does it have three soldered ears (prongs) for attachment? Looks close to one of my earlier Rosette finds!
Continued Good Luck, Roger

Roger, the piece you are referring to is a coin of some sort. There are no truly distinguishanle markings, at least not that I can tell, except for the remnants of a faint edging/ ring/ rim just the the inside of the edge! Thats the only reason I am leaning towards coin or token. Odd shape though!

Hey Travis, could it be a back off a pocket watch? Maybe a closer view if you have time?

Nice to see you out digging in the CW relic hunters dreamland again. I'd love to get down that way and see you then make my way back down to NC and see my other partner AJ (after he returns from the war). Actually I would have to stop in Pa and see Gary first. What is sad is, out of the four of us hunters, not a one of us are still in good ol' New Bern chasing after Gen Burnsides relics. Oh and by the way, the name of the camp that we hunted for so many years and never knew the name of was "Camp Palmer" 12th NY Cav was there. Makes sense considering all the Cav stuff found, IE pistol balls and carbines balls and down in the sandy soil of the lower pasture. It was sure nice to finaly put a name to the place I have so many fond memories with you, A.J. and Gary and a few others. I may never touch ground there again, but my memories are forever. As a matter of fact, it was this time last year I last seen ya'll. Marry Christmas brother to you and yours.
