Mark and I got to our hot spot again this morning, The first picture is his finds that include a top and bottom of a hotchkiss shell. They were in the same hole. Not sure where the rest of it went. He also found a old coin, pocket knife, and a few brass and lead odds and ends.

I found a variety of brass and lead. The flat buttons and anchor button were my finds of the day, not sure if military or civilian. The front side of the big button has a square pattern. Overall, it was a very nice day spent hunting with a friend. HH gary

Hey Gary & Mark! Glad that you both were able to get out and save some History! It's nice to "Share" a dig with a "Friend" as well! Continued Success to you both! HH, GL, Roger

Hi daniel, thanks for the reply. The back of the anchor button is blank and the shank is gone, In Tice, the closest button to it is the NA236 on page 160. It may be post or pre or a civilian button, who knows, HH, gary

Hey gary I done tried searching that one and I cant come up with anyhting close to it.So Like you Im leaning towards a civilian button.I still cant get over how wide the cross arm is on that anchor, but I still like it,definetly a cool old button.

One other way I try and identify my Colonial finds when all else fails is that I post it on UK sites and see if I get any responces there.Good luck on your next outing.Daniel
