Saddle Horn

I dug this saddle horn last fall here in south west PA. I was told they were used during the Mexican & Civil war?

Dude that is a totally awesome find,but for the life of me I have never seen a pommel on a saddle like that or used in that fashion.So knowing you found a sword pommel (yeah buddy) and I dont have a book on swords or bayonets I found a quick picture of one similar in head style for you to finish researching.Hope this helps you out.And again that is one sweet find.Daniel
