Mark and I were able to get out for a hunt today. I was lucky enough today to dig my first belt buckle. As you can see from the pictures, it is in very poor condition. It may have been in or near a fire pit. It is a US buckle, as when I cleaned it a bit, the US can be read(barely). Also my finds were a 1862 Indian head penny, a dropped three ringer, a couple of flat buttons, and some odds and ends brass and lead.
Mark found a "small cannonball??". We put a quarter next to it to give it some scale. Did they have cannonballs this small or maybe a big grape shot, any info. would be great. Mark also found a carved bullet, a couple of small cuff size blank buttons, bits of a pocket knife, a part from a hotchkiss shell, and lots of lead/brass odds and ends. Overall a great day for us, thanks for looking and happy hunting!!
