So, I want to get started in relic digging. Moved to Arkansas, Lee county. Skirmishes in Lagrange, Helena, Moro, all within 15 minutes from me. If I go to a farm field to look, What do I look for as a starting point. I've got several friends here who own land and will let me hunt, just don't know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello ERnurse ill try to help you, First i would ask around and see if any
one has found any thing on there property and do some research in
your area and maybe some one here lives close to you can point you
in the right direction.

Raymond is right about research! That is key to finding most relics these days!
But..if time is a factor, as research is a time consuming process, then look at topograghy. Look for water sources; springs, streams, etc. Check ridge lines/hills as high points offered good look out spots and camp locations.
Most importantly though is to go slow and take your time. If you have a large amount of land to hunt then relics could be anywhere!!!
Also talk to locals...and people who have lived in the areas for a long time! They may remember where old houses stood or have heard stories about others finding things!!
Good luck and keep us posted!! We look forward to seeing your finds!

If this land is farm land then someone breaks the ground up and someone may have found bullets they stick out being white and all so check for that as well
