Will be moving to Winchester Tenn. in a couple of months and would like to know of any civil war camps, battles, or any other info you may like to share. Looking foreward to searching the area. Also, last time I visited(no detecting) I was In the right place at the right time. While checking out an old coach house that was being remodeled in Beans Creek, Tenn. The contractors pulled out a rotten stair step and discovered two mason jars (one broken) full of old gold coins. Was able to look only briefly before the owner (?) took them and dissapeared. Never heard any more about them as to age, value, or where they came from. Would liked to have known thier origin. (Would like to have found them LOL):yikes:

Hi,

Very interesting story on the gold coins. Finding stuff like that could put a treasure hunter on easy street for a very long time:wink:

What part of Tenn. is Winchester?

Winchester is directly south of Nashville almost to the Alabama border. Beans Creek is just south of Winchester.

Is that close to Murfreesboro? Wife has a lot of Sutton kin there. I will look at my maps and scan what I find. I am sorta behind cause I have a couple of hard to locate maps I am in the process od getting for another member. Then I have three new installs to do next week.. HV/AC units. Gotta do duct work and install units.:icon_tong After that I may take off a wek or so and hunt if weather permits.

Adjutant1351,

Winchester is about an hour south of Murfreeseboro. Take I-24 East Towards Monteagle then head south thru Pellham and Alto, thru Decherd to Winchester.
Nice and quiet town. Real peacefull. I'm also researching the area around Beans Creek(birth place of Davey Crockett) His wife is buried there and the area abounds in history. Can't wait.
