I'd say it would be Rare for me to find one around these parts. It's strange that you are finding more Civil War related items up your way, but I'm proud for You. Albert lists your button as New Haven Grays with that backmark as CT 28A RV3 (his scale is 1-10). The 11th Edition of North South Trader's Civil War lists your button at $40 for excavated (but this is an older book and it's just a price guide). The Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!!!!
Now, Tice lists your button as CT268A and that price guide is for Mint Non-Excavated Buttons and is listed as New Haven Grays at $45.
Now, I was wrong by thinking it was "G" for Guard!

Nice Find For Sure!!
I went knocking on doors and ended up back at a couple old places without diggin' anything of interest. I guess I'll go fishing tomorrow??

Thanks For Finding & Sharing Those Nice Finds, HH, TTYL, Roger
thank you for that info! yeah i was thinkin the same thing about a few of my CW finds way up here i'm not complaining just in the right place at the right time i guess
thanks again Rog!
